What is the Political Courage Test?

Colorado Congressional Election 2012 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Abortion is a deeply personal issue that can only be decided by the woman directly affected. The decisions and responsibilites associated with abortion should be born by the individual. It is not a function of government to provide resources to have an abortion or care for the child.
No Do you support United States' combat operations in Afghanistan?
Yes Do you support a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan?
The immediate need for 'police action' to protect US Citizens has long passed. Withdrawal of US Forces from Afganistan should be conducted on the shortest possible time schedule. Since there has been no declaration of war on Afganistan as required by the US Constitution, we have no legitimate reason to continue combat operations in Afganistan.

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing the federal budget. In order to balance the budget,

Yes do you support reducing defense spending?
Yes do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes do you support reducing Medicaid spending?
Yes do you support reducing Medicare spending?
Yes Is balancing the budget a legislative priority?
-Remove our forces from current "police actions" such as Afganistan, Korea, etc. No more funding for these continuing conflicts. --Establish a simple accross-the-board flat tax rate system with no social engineering tax credits, loop-holes, or exemptions. --Medicare and Medicaid spending levels aren't covered by the current taxing levels for these programs. costs must be brought under control.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
--all of the current regulations and governmental interference with campaign financing need to be eliminated. These regulations and interference only serve as barriers to entry into the polictical campaigns. Those with large resources and the will to expend them for a purpose, will generally do so in spite of the requlations. Those of us without the large resources simply can't.
Yes Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
No Do you support spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
No Do you support the temporary extension of unemployment benefits?
No Do you support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief?
--It is not the federal government's purpose to promote economic growth or create jobs. The federal government primary purpose is to provide security from external threats..
No Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
--Federal grants for education should be eliminated.
Yes Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
--Make offshore energy production and its associated costs the complete responsiblity of those who conduct the operations. If something goes wrong they must pay ALL costs assciated with recovery.
Yes Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
There is no doubt in my mind that humans exist in the environment and that our actions have effects on the clilmate. The clmate and environment is an equilibrium process that is never stable and always changing and shifting. I reject the underlying assumption that climate change is always a bad thing.
No Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
The 2nd amendment to the US Constitution is quite clear on this subject.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
No Should individuals be required to purchase health insurance, as mandated in the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
Get the government at all levels out of the business of interfering in the health care marketplace.
Yes Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Do you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?
Yes Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and local police?
--if a law is on the books, all levels of enforcement police should be enforcing the law. --The US Constitution does enable the Congress to establish the requirements to be met for non-citizens to become citizens. Citizenship is a privelege, not necessarily a right.
No Do you support same-sex marriage?
-This is another confused issue. The government should not be involved in any rules or privelges associated with partnerships between consenting adults.
Yes Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
No Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon?
--Any criminal who has committed hostile acts against US Citizens, should be pursued and arrested wherever feasible. --Every sovereign country has the right to seek and obtain whatever weapons they think important for their security. It is hypocritical for the US to maintain WMD and yet insist that no other country may have similar weapons. If we wish to outlaw a type of weapon, we should set the example by eliminating that type from our arsenal.
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
--100% should be portion that an individual should be able to apply to their own retirement planning or other needs.
